Services

Creating wide underground pathways from a single entry point, boosting efficiency and reducing surface impact.

Advanced Underground Installation Services

DrillWorx precision target drilling services revolutionize underground utility installation. We utilize cutting-edge Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) technology and Jack Bore that surpasses traditional open trench limitations.

By eliminating extensive excavation, HDD and Jack Bore reduces surface disruption and environmental impact. Ideal for urban areas or sensitive ecosystems, it’s a cornerstone of trenchless installation.

Jack and Bore Process

Launch Pit Excavation

A pit is dug at the starting point of the crossing.

Receiving Pit Excavation

A pit is dug at the end point to receive the casing.

Machine Setup

A boring machine mounted on rails is placed in the launch pit.

Hydraulic Jacking

Steel casing pipe is pushed horizontally through the soil.

Auger Boring

A rotating auger inside the casing removes soil back to the entry shaft.

Carrier Pipe Installation

Once casing is in place, the utility pipe (water, sewer, etc.) is inserted.

Directional Drill Process

Planning & Locating Utilities

Review the plans, bore path, and depth requirements; call 811, pothole and confirm entry and exit points.

Pilot Hole Drilling

Begin drilling along the planned bore path.

Exiting the Pilot Hole

Prepare for reaming by cleaning the pilot hole.

Reaming (Hole Enlargement)

Pump drilling fluid to stabilize the bore, and pull it back, and increase hole size in stages.

Pullback of Product Pipe

Connect product pipe and complete pullback into the entry pit.

Cleanup, Testing & Restoration

Pressure test, remove equipment, and clean site.

Advantages of Jack and Bore

  • Minimal surface disruption compared to open-cut trenching.
  • Precise alignment possible, even in difficult soil conditions.
  • Suitable for road, rail, and river crossings.
  • Reduces environmental impact and traffic disturbance.

Advantages of Directional Drill

  • Longer installation distances — can complete hundreds to thousands of feet in a single shot
  • Flexible bore path — can curve around utilities, obstacles, or elevation changes
  • Lower restoration costs — fewer pits and less surface damage
  • Ideal for congested utility corridors where steering is required

Limitations of Jack and Bore

  • Minimal surface disruption compared to open-cut trenching.
  • Precise alignment possible, even in difficult soil conditions.
  • Suitable for road, rail, and river crossings.
  • Reduces environmental impact and traffic disturbance.

Limitations of Directional Drill

  • Accuracy depends on soil conditions and locator skill
  • Drilling fluid management required (containment, disposal, returns)
  • Limited for large‑diameter steel casing
  • Can struggle in flowing sands or unstable soils without additives or specialized mud programs

Offerings That You Can Count On

Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD)

HDD allows the precise installation of utilities over long distances and curved paths. Unlike auger boring or jack-and-bore, HDD enables steerable operations under rivers, roads, and urban areas without excavation.

Jack and Bore

Jack and bore drilling is a trenchless construction method used to install steel casing pipes horizontally beneath roads, railways, or other obstacles without surface excavation.
